Education Quality Policy

Education quality policy of the Faculty of Economics

The education quality policy stems from the development strategy of the University of Opole and the development strategy of the institutes within the faculty. The strategic goal of the education quality policy is to ensure a high level of education, which translates into adequate preparation for employment or for continuing education at the second or third cycle of studies. This means that graduates of the Faculty of Economics, thanks to their high level of knowledge, acquired skills, and responsible and ethical behavior, are able to respond to the challenges of the modern world and adapt to the needs of the changing labor market.

Achieving the strategic goal requires defining the directions of the faculty’s education quality policy:

  1. Providing students with knowledge based on the current state of science and the latest directions of development in the areas of research conducted at individual EC institutes. This is achieved through, among other things, providing staff and students with access to library resources and scientific databases, funding participation in scientific conferences, and systematically reviewing course cards for updates.
  2. Continuous improvement and expansion of the educational offerings, tailored to student expectations and current labor market trends. This is achieved through, among other things, the introduction of new fields of study, new specializations, and the development of an English-language program.
  3. Continuous improvement of teaching methods, particularly those based on modern technologies. This is achieved through, among other things, ensuring access to appropriate teaching infrastructure, including computers and specialized software, and identifying and supporting the implementation of training needs in teaching methods.
  4. Educating and promoting research staff and supporting their development. This is achieved through, among other things: opportunities to undertake doctoral studies, substantive and organizational support in obtaining grants, participation in various teaching and research projects, providing individualized learning opportunities for students conducting research, and opportunities for publishing research results.
  5. Engaging student representatives to participate in improving the teaching process. This is achieved through, among other things, student participation in faculty quality committees and student participation in infrastructure reviews.
  6. Building and promoting a culture of quality among students and staff at the Faculty of Economics. This is achieved through, among other things, encouraging the expression of opinions through a survey system implemented for the evaluation of the process of improving the quality of education,
  7. Strengthening collaboration with external stakeholders. This will be achieved through, among other things, joint review of study programs, student internships and placements in companies/institutions, organizing study visits to companies/institutions, inviting practitioners to teach, and ensuring access to information on the educational process and ongoing research.
  8. Developing international cooperation in research and teaching. This will be achieved by, among other things, providing students and staff with opportunities to participate in international exchange programs, international conferences, and summer schools.

At the Faculty level, the education quality policy is supervised by the Dean, and the following persons are responsible for its implementation:

  • Faculty Commission for the Improvement of the Quality of Education, Faculty Commission for the Assessment of the Quality of Education. The systematization of activities ensuring appropriate quality and its improvement is reflected in the Faculty Manual for the Quality of Education, which constitutes a collection of procedures for improving the quality of education. Most of the procedures contained therein are university-wide, but in some areas, faculty-specific procedures have been developed.
